Release 89-34 provides support for a change to the FCC rules Part 11.33(a)(10) that determines how to tell if the time on an alert is valid. The ENDEC has previously used a different method to reject alerts that are in the future. This update will not affect the processing of valid alerts; however, your ENDEC must have its time set to no more than 15 minutes slow. All ENDECs should use an NTP server to maintain accurate time. You should also verify that the strict time option in your settings file is selected, this is on the config tab of ENDECSetD and is the default. You must install this update to keep the ENDEC compliant with the FCC rules. We have also included the BLU event release, 89-32. Read the release notes pdf. It contains the details on what you need to download.
Files:
- release notes: pdf (read this)
- firmware: 89-34.x (upload this one to the ENDEC)
- ENDECSetD: EndecSetD53.msi (install this one on your PC)
You will need to have already installed 89-30 or 89-32. To find your current version number, use the version button on the ENDEC’s home page and check this line:
Board rev x/nn
if nn is 89.34, then you already have this release. If it is 89.30 or 89.32, you can install the 89-34 release. If your sub version is less than 30, you will need to install 89-30 first, read the 89-30 update page.
Minimum acceptable firmware version to install 89-34
You must be at least on 89-30 with the cr-rev4 certificate update (released May 29, 2018) and the si-rev5 certificate update (released August 28, 2018) to receive FEMA IPAWS alerts and to properly meet to NPT requirements. As of August 12, 2019, you should be on version 89-34. To receive the 2019 National Periodic Test on August 7, you need to be on at least 89-30. To find your current version number, use the version button on the ENDEC’s home page and check this line:
Board rev x/nn
nn must be 89.30. If not, read the 89-30 update page.
To verify your certificate level, check the last line of the version list:
CA rev 3, CR rev 4, SEC rev 4, SI Rev 5, VTAG
Check for the presence of CR Rev 4 and SI Rev 5. Most users will already have CR Rev 4, if you don't, install it first. Most users will not already have SI rev 5, if you don't, you will need to install it last. See detailed sections below for details.
The short version for the experienced is that if you have 89-30, but don't have CR Rev 4, install cr-rev4.x. Then, if you have 89-30 and CR Rev 4, but not SI Rev 5 (the common case) then install si-rev5.x.

Updates for the Sage Digital ENDEC for users in Canada
There are currently no updates for the Canadian version of the Sage Digital ENDEC mode 3644. The ENDECSetD program for Canada is the same as the US version (though you will need to use the 'mode' menu to set the EAS/CAP-CP mode to CAP-CP. ENDECSetD can be found on the PC Software page. Although ENDECSetD is the same, the firmware loaded into the ENDEC is different between the US and the Canadian version, an ENDEC with the US firmware will not work properly in Canada for NAAD and CAP-CP. Make sure you load the correct version of firmware updates for your country into your ENDEC.
